April Powell who has been devoting her life to assisting with the safety and education of at-risk children by being a former lead autistic teacher, foster/adoption parent, emergency housing for children, and TSS worker since 2008. April started Beyond Basic Learning Academy after fostering children and realizing that they couldn’t read, the facilities that they were attending were not teaching them the fundamentals and feeling like she could bridge the gap of the need for quality care in low income neighborhoods. Beyond Basic Learning Academy has been meeting the diverse needs of community by concentrating on providing quality care, homework assistance, and extracurricular activities to not only the working family but with the highest concentration of poverty and fulfilling the gap that's needed in the community.
